VIDEOS: Fired Bismarck anchor finishes whirlwind tour on Letterman

NEW YORK - A fired Bismarck anchorman finished up his tour of New York talk shows with David Letterman trying to get him to consider going back to his old job in North Dakota.

A.J. Clemente joked along with the late-night comedian, saying he's hoping ESPN would call first.

In a week where Clemente went from an unknown to celebrity in the span of a couple words - opening Sunday night's KFYR-TV news with a pair of obscenities - it was a busy Wednesday for the West Virginia University graduate.

Clemente appeared on "Live with Kelly and Michael," where hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan offered him a job. According to a report on USA Today's website, the hosts asked him to cover the red carpet at Pierce Brosnan's new movie, "Love Is All You Need."

According to USA Today, Clemente agreed. "Yeah," he said, "yeah, definitely."

Earlier Wednesday, Clemente appeared on NBC's "Today" show and said watching his flub for the first time was "gut-wrenching."

Clemente appeared on "Today" Wednesday morning after his Sunday broadcast - his only one in Bismarck - went viral on social media sites.

"I didn't even know I said it on camera until my news director walked in on the third break," Clemente told Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie, in a story posted on Today's website.

Just before taping the “The Late Show” with David Letterman, Clemente tweeted, "Omg Kate Hudson..... Knees just melted," following another tweet of his arrival at Letterman's studio.

The actress Hudson, along with Selena Gomez, were also scheduled guests on the show.

Clemente was put on suspension by employer KFYR-TV following the Sunday broadcast and fired Monday.

After his dismissal from KFYR-TV, many of his Twitter followers jumped to his defense and called for the station to rehire him.
