Moorhead speech squad enjoys big day at stateMOORHEAD – The Moorhead High School speech team came away with the biggest medal haul among teams at the 2013 Minnesota Class AA State Speech Tournament.
The Class AA tournament was Friday at Blaine High School.
Twenty-four Moorhead speakers participated, with 17 earning medals, including three state championships.
It is the second-highest medal count in Minnesota State High School League speech history, school district spokeswoman Pam Gibb said.
Moorhead High speakers and their honors are:
•Annie Cameron, state champion in creative expression.
•Matthew Wisenden, state champion in poetry.
•Nina Grollman, state champion in humorous interpretation.
•Anne Totten, second in storytelling.
•Tanner Tweten and Jordan Hartjen, third in dramatic duo.
•Shontel Smith, third in storytelling.
•Devon Manney, fourth in drama.
•Karina Twedt, fifth in prose.
•Noah Johnson and Jade Krsnak, sixth in dramatic duo.
•Joe Cella, sixth in discussion.
•Auna Lee and Ali Hastins, seventh in dramatic duo.
•Shaker Ali, seventh in extemporaneous speaking.
•Emily Haagenson, seventh in oratory.
•Abbie Clapp, eighth in creative expression.
