Minn. man indicted in wife, fetus deathsHASTINGS, Minn. — A Minnesota man is now charged with planning the deaths of his wife and their unborn child.
A Dakota County grand jury indicted 36-year-old Roger Holland of Apple Valley on first-degree murder charges in the deaths of his wife, Margorie, and her 15-week-old fetus.
Holland originally was charged with second-degree murder in both deaths.
Police found Margorie Holland at the bottom of stairs in the couple's town house. But the medical examiner concluded she died of strangulation, not a fall down the stairs.
Holland's attorney, Marsh Halberg, says he's not surprised by the indictment, but says it's based on just one side of the story.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press (http://bit.ly/15G83GI ) reports Holland remains jailed with bail set at $1 million. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 30.
