Corps awards emergency levee contracts for Fargo, Grafton

ST. PAUL – The St. Paul District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded contracts to build temporary emergency levees in Fargo.

Contracts were awarded Friday to H&S Contracting Inc. and Tunheim Construction LLC, both of Moorhead, to build to a levee height of 44 feet, according to a news release. Construction of the levees began Monday.

Depending on actual river crests, the corps stated in the release it could build anywhere from 4 to 7 miles of levees.

The St. Paul District also awarded a contract to R.J. Zavoral & Sons on Monday for temporary levee construction in Grafton, N.D.

Construction of those levees began Tuesday.
