Fargo police to begin escorting sandbag delivery trucks on TuesdayFARGO – The Fargo Police Department is alerting the public that it will be escorting sandbag delivery trucks to different drop-off points throughout the city beginning Tuesday.
The movement of flood-fighting equipment, trucks and sandbag convoys begins at 7 a.m. Tuesday and will continue through Thursday evening.
Police escorts will use lights and sirens with a lead car and a trail car to escort semi-tractor trailers in groups of four to sandbag drop-off points and then back to the loading points. The goal is to escort 526 semi-loads through the city during a three day period.
Drivers are asked to yield the right of way to these escorted convoys so they can efficiently deliver sandbags and equipment.
Police also ask drivers not to park on streets and avenues where flood protection work is in progress. Access is needed for large equipment. Vehicles parked on the street and hindering equipment access may be towed.
