Letter: Wrong votes by our senatorsHas government of, by and for the people perished from the earth? The support for universal background checks for gun purchasers is somewhere north of 80 percent. Even the National Rifle Association supported the idea, until they opposed it.
But our U.S. senators, John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp, voted against the proposal to require background checks for all gun purchase transactions between strangers. How can that possibly be the right thing to do?
