Police to collect unused medications April 27

MOORHEAD – The Moorhead Police Department will collect unwanted, unused and expired prescription drugs at Walgreens stores here on April 27.

Medications can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to noon at the store on Eighth Street and Main Avenue and from noon to 2 p.m. at the store on Eighth Street and 30th Avenue South.

Pills can be left in a bottle or put in a zip-close bag. Liquids should be sealed in bottles and also secured in a zip-close bag. It is requested that no needles be put into the collection boxes.

The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked. Over the past two years in Moorhead, 183 pounds of medication has been collected through this initiative.

Disposing of unused medications by flushing them down the toilet or throwing them into the trash poses potential safety and health hazards.
