Historic North Dakota courthouse being demolishedWASHBURN — Demolition work has begun on the historic McLean County Courthouse in Washburn.
The century-old building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but officials say it is bat-infested and has health concerns. Voters in 2010 approved construction of a new courthouse that is now in use.
The Bismarck Tribune reports that crews with a wrecking ball began demolishing the old courthouse this week — a few weeks later than planned because of unfavorable weather.
