Five to be inducted into ND softball Hall of Fame

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Five people, including the late Don Minette of Fargo, will be inducted into the North Dakota Amateur Softball Association’s Hall of Fame a Saturday banquet at Jamestown’s Gladstone Inn.

Joining Minette are Tim Burckhard of Burlington; Darcie Hanson of Bismarck; Tim Michelson of Bismarck and Mike Wolf of Bismarck.

Minette, who died in 2010 at the age of 80, played fastpitch softball for nearly 20 years in Fargo. He played on five state championship teams and in 19 state tournaments.

Burckhard has played slowpitch softball for 30 years in Minot, carrying a lifetime batting average of .600.

Hanson has played slowpitch for 25 years in Bismarck, competing in three national tournaments and three co-ed national tournaments.

Michelsen has played slowpitch for 33 years and on eight state championship teams and 11 Old Pro title teams.

Wolf, the current state umpire in chief, has umpired in eight national tournaments and has been involved with the Sam McQuade tournament in Bismarck for 30 years.
