ND Senate provides funding to train service dogs for veteransBISMARCK — North Dakota's Senate has approved a measure to provide $50,000 to train service dogs to assist veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
The Senate voted unanimously Wednesday to provide the funding. The House approved the measure earlier.
Backers say the funding over the next two years is enough to train four dogs.
The state Department of Veterans Affairs is required to provide a report to lawmakers on the effectiveness of the program.
