Fargo man accused of swiping ATM from Black Building arrested

FARGO – A man accused of stealing an ATM from the Black Building in downtown Fargo was arrested Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals Service High Plains Fugitive Task Force.

Christopher Michael Vendlinski, 39, was arrested at 821 7th Ave. N., Apt. No. 5, in Fargo, U.S. Marshal Paul Ward said in a news release.

Vendlinski was wanted on an arrest warrant for two felony theft charges in Cass County District Court that link him with the Feb. 2 theft of the ATM. He also had an outstanding Cass County warrant for failure to appear on child support charges.

Vendlinski was featured in The Forum’s Fugitive Focus article on Monday.

Tips from Forum readers didn’t directly lead to the arrest, according to the news release. The Marshals Service found he was dating a Fargo woman also wanted on a Cass County warrant for an alleged violation of a protection order.

That woman, Lisa Ruth, lives in the apartment where the two were arrested, authorities said in the news release.

Vendlinski and Ruth were taken to the Cass County Jail.
