Coach’s comments: “We have a great group of returners that are talented,” Christianson said. “They have been making a lot of big strides over the first two seasons that we have had a program. We’ve made the state tournament the last two seasons and this year we want to challenge for that championship.”

Fargo North

Coach: Cordell Sinding (18th year)

Last year’s record: 10-8-3, 8-5-1 EDC (Sixth place at state tournament)

Who’s gone: Olivia Shockman, D; McKinsey Heiser, D; Shantel Johnson, M

Coach’s comments: “On the offensive side of the ball we are going to have more success than we did last season,” Sinding said. “Last year, we were a young team and it took us awhile to get going offensively. We are more mature this year and we should be able to build off of the end of last season.

“Defensively we have to fill some big shoes,” Sinding added. “But once we get that figured out we should be contending with the top teams in the EDC.”

Fargo South

Coach: Michael Breker (6th year)

Last year’s record: 6-11-1, 4-9-1 EDC

Coach’s comments: “We have a high number of juniors and seniors on the team,” Breker said. “We should have good leadership on the team and our upperclassmen will definitely be carrying us this year. Our attacking talent will be strong, but we’ll have to build some defense around it.”

Fargo Oak Grove

Coach: Kevin Roos (10th year)

Last year’s record: 18-0-2, 14-0-0 EDC (State champions)

Who’s gone: Elizabeth Bitzan, GK; Hannah Saville, D; Kelsey Kanwischer, M; Haley Greving, F

Coach’s comments: “Obviously, we lost some talent losing four all-conference players to graduation,” Roos said. “We have girls that have been training really hard in the offseason and are up for the challenge. We know it is going to be much tougher than last year and I think we are going to approach the season game by game.”

West Fargo

We missed state by one game last year and we are determined to not let that happen again. There are many great teams in the EDC this spring, but we feel we are one of them.”
