Comment period extended for New Town bypassBISMARCK — North Dakota's Transportation Department has extended the public comment period for a proposed truck bypass around New Town.
The cutoff had been April 3, but officials extended it until April 25 because of an incorrect mailing address provided at a recent public hearing on the project.
The bypass would route oil field truck traffic around New Town, relieving traffic congestion on state Highway 23 through the city. A two-lane road would be constructed northeast of New Town connecting Highway 23 with state Highway 1804.
The state-funded project could cost up to $19 million.
