AARP, SBA to sponsor entrepreneurship event
The U.S. Small Business Administration and AARP North Dakota will sponsor an “encore entrepreneur” luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 23 at Dakota Medical Foundation, 4141 28th Ave. S., Fargo.
The mentoring event is targeted to individuals older than age 50 who want to start or grow their own business. The SBA and AARP will match entrepreneurs with successful business owners and community leaders for advice and assistance.

Family business identity topic of May program
The 2013 Next-Generation Program, “Discover your Family Business Identity” is scheduled May 9-10 at the Offutt School of Business at Concordia College.
The keynote speaker will be Justin Anderson, a distinguished family business adviser and sports team motivator.
The program agenda includes leadership/
strength profiling, workplace situational and organizational awareness, communication training, assessment of the impact of family dynamics on business performance and productivity, and balanced approaches to family roles and responsibilities at work.
Participants will benefit from connecting their own personal business experiences with the evaluation tools and leadership skills they will acquire during the two-day program.
This event is open to family business owners in the Dakotas and western Minnesota.

New Bell State Bank now open in Wahpeton
Bell State Bank & Trust has opened its new 6,000-square-foot bank building in Wahpeton, N.D.
The bank also opened a new location in January in Breckenridge, Minn.

Fundraiser planned for People’s Press Project
Students at Minnesota State University are holding an online fundraiser through April 22 to benefit the People’s Press Project.
The goal is to raise $1,000 to purchase digital media equipment.

UND to offer doctor of nursing program in fall
The College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, will offer a post-master’s doctor of nursing practice program starting fall 2013.
The program prepares nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, clinical nurse specialists and nurse midwives for the highest level of nursing practice.
The director of the DNP program is Dr. Maridee Shogren.
F-M AM Rotary rose sale set through Friday
The Fargo-Moorhead AM Rotary is hosting its annual rose sale. Pre-orders will be accepted through Friday at www.rotaryrosesale.com.
Orders can be picked up between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. April 24 at Shotwell Floral, 4000 40th St. S., Fargo, or the roses can be delivered for free in the Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo area.
The price per dozen ranges from $20 to $35. Proceeds from the sale benefits programs in the community including TNT Kid’s Fitness, YWCA, Rebuilding Together and the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center.
‘Sales Tax 101’ topic
of free Fargo workshop
Eide Bailly will host a free “Sales Tax 101” workshop from 8 to 10 a.m. April 26 at its Fargo location.
The workshop will cover state and local tax issues including North Dakota tax laws regarding point of possession and sale refunds, the concept of “use tax” as it applies to contractors, manufacturing and primary sector sales tax exemptions, the application of sales tax to crew camps and long-term motel stays, and the basics of South Dakota contractors’ excise tax.

Fargo West Rotary is sponsoring a motorcycle raffle to benefit the Red River Zoo, Fargo.
The winner will receive a Harley-Davidson Heritage Soft Tail motorcycle with a retail value of $17,599. Second-place prize is $1,000 cash and the third-place prize is $500 cash. The drawing is May 4.
The motorcycle is on display in Fargo at Don’s Car Wash on 52nd Avenue South, Bernie’s Wines and Liquors, Straus Clothing, Scheels All Sports, Scheels Home & Hardware and at the Holiday Inn.
Tickets are $100 each and a maximum of 600 tickets will be sold. Tickets can be purchased at the Red River Zoo and at the Harley- Davidson dealership on Main Avenue in West Fargo.
