Glasston boy to be Guard ‘Pilot for a Day’

FARGO – Samuel Green, 7, of Glasston, will be promoted to a general today at the North Dakota Air National Guard base here as part of the NDANG “Pilot for a Day” program.

The program is made possible through donations and volunteer time to honor a child who is fighting or has overcome a life-threatening illness or condition.

Green recently finished chemotherapy to battle desmoplastic small round cell tumor, an aggressive and rare cancer of the abdomen.

During his time at the base today, he will be honored during a welcoming ceremony, receive his own flight suit, see training demonstrations, tour a C-21 Lear jet and watch a flyover after communicating with the pilot via radio.
