Weekend watch: ‘God of Carnage,’ ‘Gypsy’ and ‘Vinegar Tom’

Tonight through Sunday

The weather makes it feel like it is still winter, but some theater troupes are kicking off their final show of the season this weekend. Theatre B, 716 Main Ave., Fargo, takes its bow with a blow and the fallout of a childhood fight in “God of Carnage.” Forget the film version (2011’s “Carnage” starring Kate Winslet and Jodie Foster), this story works better in the uncomfortable stage confines of an apartment as the two kids’ parents discuss the altercation and devolve into childish arguments themselves. Show times are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Tickets are $20 adults, $10 students. (701) 729-8880.

Across the river, Concordia College students bring the curtains down with “Vinegar Tom” at Frances Frazier Comstock Theatre. Shows will be at 8 tonight through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. The play explores gender and power issues in the light of 17th-century witchcraft trials in England. Tickets range from $4 to $7 at thrtix@cord.edu, or (218) 299-3314.

The Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre goes out with a song with “Gypsy: The Musical.”

The story of an overbearing stage mom delivered popular tunes “Everything’s Coming up Roses” and “You Gotta Get a Gimmick.” Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday at The Stage at Island Park, 333 4th St. S., Fargo. Tickets range from $6 to $16. (701) 235-6778
