$1 million bail set for suspected gunman in drug-related Moorhead shooting

MOORHEAD – Bail was set at $1 million Wednesday for a man who spent more than two weeks on the run after police charged him as the suspected gunman in a drug-deal shooting that sent one man to the hospital.

Samuel Bullock Jr., 25, made his first appearance in Clay County District Court on charges including attempted murder, attempted aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree drug sales, all felonies.

Bullock is accused of shooting former Minnesota State University Moorhead football player Anthony Sands on March 6 after witnesses say he threatened to steal 2.2 pounds of marijuana from Sands.

Bullock, who was arrested March 23 in Beloit, Wis., on Wednesday asked the court to appoint a public defender for him.

Michael Crittenden, 23, of Moorhead, and Tyshawn Darden, 19, of Fargo, were also charged in the case –with aiding and abetting attempted murder, robbery-related charges and conspiracy to sell drugs.
