Orgon, Brost earn Summit League awardsNorth Dakota State’s Casey Orgon was named the Summit League’s Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week while NDSU’s Leslie Brost and South Dakota State’s Brook Garner earned the same honor on the women’s side.
Orgon set the school record in the hammer throw at back-to-back meets in the same day. The senior finished fourth at the Sun Angel Classic with a throw of 201 feet, 1 inch, breaking the previous school record by more than four feet. He then went onto win the hammer throw at the Mesa Classic, breaking his own record set at the previous meet. Orgon’s mark leads the league and ranks 26th in the nation.
Brost won the award for the sixth time in her career. The senior placed third at the Sun Angel Classic, clearing 13-9¾, which ranks second in the league and ties her for 12th in the nation. She finished ahead of vaulters from three nationally ranked teams in No. 1 Kansas, No. 8 Arizona State and No. 16 Illinois.
