VIDEO: Vehicle fire causes damage to apartment garage in south FargoFARGO – Fire investigators are probing the cause of a vehicle fire that spread to an apartment garage this morning in south Fargo.
Firefighters responded at 4:43 a.m. to a 2002 Ford Explorer on fire at 2701 32nd Ave. S.
Crews arrived within three minutes and found the SUV parked next to a garage with flames protruding from the rear of the passenger compartment and extending to the unattached 13-stall garage, starting the vinyl siding on fire, Assistant Chief Gary Lorenz said. Both the vehicle and garage fires were quickly extinguished.
The fire destroyed the SUV and damaged the siding and sheeting of the garage's west wall but didn’t cause any structural damage, officials said.
Capt. Jason Mehlisch said other vehicle fires have been reported recently in that area, but investigators won’t deem today's fire as suspicious until they know the cause.
