Vacant north Fargo restaurant razed to make room for apartments

FARGO – Crews this week demolished a former McDonald’s restaurant on Fargo’s North Broadway to make room for a 24-unit apartment building.

Earlier this year, developer Mark West provided the city with information about his plans for the site, which include underground parking.

West plans a three-story apartment complex that will have six one-bedroom apartments, 12 two-bedroom apartments and six three-bedroom units.

The city granted West’s request for a $179,000 tax break via tax-increment financing to cover the cost of demolition, sidewalks and infrastructure; as well as the difference of $54,700 between the land’s assessed value and the purchase price.

The McDonald’s at 3202 N. Broadway closed in the mid-1990s after about 19 years in business, and the building had sat vacant ever since.
