Fargo native wins big on 'Wheel of Fortune'

LOS ANGELES – Jeff Ellingson, a Fargo native who now lives in Los Angeles, went home a winner after appearing on the popular game show “Wheel of Fortune” on Tuesday night.

Ellingson’s winnings on the show totaled $116,830, and included a trip to Maui. The episode was filmed about four months ago in “Wheel of Fortune’s” Culver City studio.

Reached by phone on Wednesday afternoon, Ellingson joked that he still has to wait a few months longer to receive the prize money.

“People hitting me up for money have to wait a little bit,” he said, laughing.

His success on the show still hasn’t quite set in yet, the 38-year-old said.

“Once you’re there, you’re nervous and excited,” he said. “I don’t know how I solved some of those puzzles – I just saw the answers somehow, they just came to me.”

Ellingson graduated from West Fargo High School in 1992 and moved out to LA two years later. He works as a photographer and actor, and his IMDB entry lists credits for TV shows such as “2 Broke Girls” and “Ugly Betty.”

Ellingson doesn’t have any television projects coming up, although last month he appeared on an episode of FX’s comedy “Legit.”

He still has family in the Fargo-Moorhead area, and he says he comes home twice a year to visit relatives.
