Letter: ND does what clearly is right

Wow, the pro-choice crowd is up in arms. Reading through some of these letters to The Forum is interesting. If I didn’t know better, I’d think the next time I cross the river into North Dakota I’ll be tripping over scores of dead pregnant women whose lives were placed in jeopardy by that dastardly tea party zealot Gov. Jack Dalrymple.

I have some questions for Tammy Kromenaker, who runs the Red River Women’s clinic; maybe The Forum can find this out. Of the 1,200 to 1,300 abortions done per year, how many are high-risk pregnancies where the woman’s life is in obvious danger? How many are unwanted pregnancies caused by a poor choice? I’ll bet a paycheck the vast majority fall in the second category.

Of course, the pro-choice crowd will never admit the vast majority of abortions are unwanted lives. A local news channel just interviewed a woman who said her abortion saved her and her babies’ quality of life. Unbelievable. We are to believe her baby would prefer never existing in the world to an adoption by a family who couldn’t conceive?

In all these letters and interviews there is an outcry about women’s health and rights. They’ll never once admit the right they are petitioning for steals the right of a human life from someone else. The Constitution guarantees the government will protect life. Certainly there is debate about when life begins, but there is no question an abortion ends a potential life.

The U.S. Constitution does not guarantee the right to an abortion; read it, it’s not in there. The Supreme Court was wrong in Roe v Wade. Thanks, North Dakota. Hopefully what you did will lead other states to do what is right.
