NDSU sophomore guard Jamie Van Kirk leaves women's basketball team

FARGO - North Dakota State sophomore guard Jamie Van Kirk has left the women’s basketball team, head coach Carolyn DeHoff confirmed to WDAY-TV today.

DeHoff said Van Kirk, who started 26 games last season, is going to transfer to a school near her home of Sutton, Neb. She averaged 8.2 points and 3.8 rebounds after spending all off-season rehabilitating an ACL tear to her knee late last season.

Her departure means the top five scorers from last season won’t be back with the other four being seniors. Van Kirk started 22 games as a freshman averaging 8.2 points and was named to the Summit League’s All-Newcomer team.
