Moorhead police allege 5-pound pot bust is again medical marijuana
Investigators conducted the search Thursday afternoon at 415 3rd Ave. S., also seizing more than $5,000 in cash, a 9 mm pistol and a .270-caliber rifle, according to a news release from Lt. Tory Jacobson.
Andrew Tyler Seeley, 25, was arrested without incident and taken to the Clay County Jail, where he was being held on potential charges of controlled substance possession/distribution, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation involved several agencies, including the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Fargo police, the IRS and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
Moorhead police say the medicinal marijuana is believed to have been grown by a person licensed in California to grow it.
“Efforts are being made to work with California authorities to assist with any California investigations for their criminal and licensing considerations,” the news release stated.
It’s the third large marijuana seizure in Cass or Clay counties in the past month in which police allege the drugs came from states where marijuana is legal for medical purposes.
Authorities say they found more than 2 pounds in a search of a Casselton, N.D., home on March 13 and more than 32 pounds at a Dilworth residence March 5.
