Letter: Less intrusion by government?

Now that Gov. Jack Dalrymple has signed the first few in a series of anti-abortion bills, North Dakota is going to be an expensive research lab and test bed for the rest of the nation on this issue. Furthermore, it means that North Dakota women are no longer in charge of their own bodies – the state government is. This is courtesy of the party of less government intrusion – less for themselves and their oil baron campaign donors, but more for the rest of us.

I believe this is good for North Dakota because it gives the voters exactly what they deserve. Up until this legislative session, the “reality-based” wing of the Republican Party has been able to prevent the radical right-wing agenda from becoming law, thus protecting the voters from the extremes of their own party.

Those days are over. Now people will be forced to experience the full consequence of what they voted for – a Republican supermajority.

Let the games begin.
