Letter: Clear walkways of ice and snowWe are writing to put in a complaint about the Fargo Street Department.
The streets are cleaned off fine, but it is the way they take care of the city’s sidewalks. They are not accessible to walk on. When they are cleaned, that is fine, but they must be done properly, where you can get across the crosswalks, plus have access to the buttons for the turning signals. There are lots of sidewalks that haven’t been cleaned off to make it easier for someone who doesn’t have a vehicle and needs to walk to the grocery store.
We have to carry groceries across the busy roads. It would be greatly appreciated to have the sidewalks cleared off, especially when the weather is warming up.
Also, the bus stops need to be cleared out, too. Many times we’ve had to stand either on the street or on a snowbank to catch a bus.
Not all streets are covered by the city bus, and it would be nice to see the sidewalks cleared on the bus routes, especially.
We also need stop lights at the south Fargo intersections of 45th Street and 44th Avenue, plus 36th Avenue and 45th Street. They are almost impossible to cross during rush hours during the week.
Don’t businesses and residents have 48 hours to get their walkways cleaned without the city charging them?
