Barry Nelson, vice president of marketing at Border States Electric, Fargo, has retired.
He began his career in 1977 with Graybar Electric. In 1985, he began working for Sterling Electric Supply, Minneapolis, as a sales manager, sales and marketing manager and vice president of sales and marketing.
Nelson joined BSE in 1992 when BSE acquired Sterling and he has held various positions including corporate marketing manager, vice president of sales and marketing for electrical construction and most recently vice president of marketing.
Liberty Business adds postage dealer supplies
Liberty Business Systems, Fargo, has partnered with FP Mailing Solutions to sell and distribute FP’s line of mailing equipment and supplies.
FP sells U.S. Postal Service-authorized mailroom equipment including meters, scales, folders/
inserters, printers, labelers, software and other products and services.
Boiler exam preparation class offered April 15
The Minnesota Multi-Housing Association will offer a preparation class for the special and second-class boiler engineer license exams from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 15 at the AmericInn, Fargo.

Patent management topic of workshop
Entrepreneurs, advanced manufacturers and other innovators can learn how to maximize the business value of their patent investments at the “Strategic Patent Management Workshop for Entrepreneurs” from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 17 at the James Ray Idea Lab in the Center for Innovation at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks.
Jeff Carpenter, director of the Bird Dog Innovation Strategies Group for Development Capital Networks, will lead the workshop that is designed for students, serial entrepreneurs, angel and seed investors, and individuals from start-up companies, manufacturing companies or university labs.

Home Heating, Metro
Home Heating, Plumbing and Air Conditioning, Fargo, and Metro Plumbing are merging effective Monday.
The combined companies will operate under the Home name.
Gerald Richard, owner of Metro Plumbing, will continue to work part time for Home Heating and Plumbing in the plumbing service department.
