Social media gives voice to nation’s thoughts on ND abortion billsFARGO - If you've been on any social media outlet lately, it may seem as though North Dakota's abortion legislation is the only topic of discussion.
So just how are others perceiving the state of North Dakota?
All you need to do is type "Abortion and North Dakota" into a search engine. Within seconds, millions of results.
Abortion is a matter of opinion, no doubt, but one thing is certain: We're the talk of the nation. Major news organizations; the BBC, MSNBC, ABC and the New York Times just to name a few, are nipping at our heels for the latest information.
Even the state's Republicans are saying it's too much. Republic State Rep. Kathy Hawken writes in the Daily Beast this week that her home state of North Dakota, "...is poised to win the state-by-state race to the bottom on women's health."
From respected news outlets to social media, some people are venting their frustrations on the governor's Facebook page, hoping their voices are heard.
Rhea Anne Williams Goss says, "Thanks for trying to take us back to the 50s. Let me guess: Your one of those guys who thinks a woman's place is at home where she can't cause any trouble like asking for equal rights!! Your recent voting actions are a disgrace to this state and an embarrassment to the women's rights movement."
Tami Boyer has an opposing stance, saying, "I support your decision and am grateful for your strength in this matter of abortion."
