Fargo police investigate report of NDSU-area muggingFARGO – Fargo police are investigating the reported mugging of a 21-year-old man who was leaving a popular university-area bar early Thursday morning, according to Fargo police Lt. Joel Vettel.
The man told police he was walking from the Bison Turf bar with another man he had just met that evening, when he was hit in the head by an unknown assailant.
The man flagged down a Fargo police officer about 2:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of North University Drive to report the assault and that his wallet had been taken, Vettel said.
The man told police he saw two people – the man he was walking with from the bar with and another man he’d also met that night at the bar.
Vettel said a K-9 unit was called out to try to get a track on the mugger, but because of the lag time between when the pair were likely leaving the bar and when the victim was able to flag down an officer, the dog couldn’t find a suspect.
Vettel said the university sent out an email warning people on campus, and the Fargo police continue to investigate.
