South Border's Bosch to wrestle at MSUM

MOORHEAD – The career wins leader for North Dakota high school wrestling is headed to the state of Minnesota.

South Border senior Blake Bosch has verbally committed to Minnesota State Moorhead.

Bosch finished his career with a 240-26 record and was a three-time Class B state champion. He earned a state title at 126 pounds in February.

“My goal is to be a national champion,” said Bosch, who plans to wrestle at 125 or 133 with the Dragons.

Bosch also drew interest from Division I schools like North Dakota State and Nebraska and Division II schools like the University of Mary and St. Cloud State.

MSUM is a Division II program, competing in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

“I feel like I can wrestle Division I, but didn’t know if I was ready,” said Bosch, who had a 93-0 record in his final two high school seasons.

South Border is a co-op that includes Ashley, Wishek and Zeeland. The Dragons have had recent success with wrestlers from that program. Corey Ulmer, whose MSUM career ended in 2011-12, was an All-American for the Dragons. Ulmer is from Ashley, N.D.

Bosch said he isn’t sure if he will redshirt or not in his first season with the Dragons.

“It’s open to me,” Bosch said. “We’ll see how it plays out.”

The Dragons got a verbal commitment from New York Mills senior Shane Novak earlier this week. Novak was a three-time Class 1A state finalist in Minnesota.
