Letter: True place is in house, not HouseIt has come to my attention that The Forum and other media outlets have been culturally disrespectful during coverage of the recent anti-abortion bills. As devout Methodist and Catholic Christians, Mrs. Don Grande and Mrs. David Sitte are advocates for a traditional family structure consisting of a male head of household and a subservient wife. They also believe that women should not make independent decisions and need to be told what to do, as illustrated in recent legislative activity.
Referring to these women as “Rep. Bette Grande” and “Sen. Margaret Sitte” disregards these cultural preferences and prioritizes their political duties over their true occupation of being loving wives and mothers. It also disrespects their husbands, Mr. Don Grande and Mr. David Sitte, by failing to acknowledge that they are the dominant voices in their households and that their wives’ thoughts and opinions are secondary.
It is my hope that The Forum and its subsidiaries will recognize this discourtesy and refer to these women properly in all future coverage. Mrs. Don Grande and Mrs. David Sitte may be part-time politicians, but according to their religious culture, their true place is in the house and not the House (or the Senate).
