FEMA giving Minot $2M for floodwall project

MINOT, N.D. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency says it is giving the city of Minot about $2.1 million for the first phase of a project to protect the city’s water treatment plant with a floodwall.

FEMA said the $2.7 million first phase involves design and engineering work along with an environmental study. If all requirements are met, FEMA will help fund construction.

Minot was hit by historic Souris River flooding in the summer of 2011. More than 4,000 homes, businesses and other structures were affected.
