Davies rolls to a third-place finish

BISMARCK – Tanner Kretchman scored 31 points to lead Fargo Davies to a 74-53 win over Bismarck Century in the third-place game of the North Dakota Class A state boys basketball tournament Saturday at the Bismarck Civic Center.

Andrew Kozlowski added 15 points for the Eagles (18-7).

Davies, only in its third season as a program, was making its first appearance at the state tournament.

The Eagles opened with a 14-3 run in the game’s first 5 minutes, 51 seconds and never trailed the Patriots the entire game.

Chad Bartosh scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Grand Forks Red River to a 66-55 win over Bismarck St. Mary’s in the fifth-place game.

Red River senior’s Mac Kroeplin and John Hoplin each added 12 points for the Roughriders (22-3).

Darius Sparks scored 14 points to pace the Saints (20-4).
