Letter: Freedom staff does a great job

With great appreciation for the Freedom Elementary staff, we would like to express our deepest thanks to all of the teachers and staff of Freedom for the professionalism, caring attitudes and quick reactions you all provided to every one of the children at the school on Wednesday, March 6. During the lockdown, you all reacted and demonstrated the very protocol you have learned and inherently would do for your own children.

No one can ever imagine actually having to use that knowledge and would hope not to, but you all did – and very well. Even though some of the children and parents were shaken up during and afterward, you all are role models for the community on how to handle adversity and succeed! Your calmness, quick thinking and attitudes truly exemplify top-quality leadership.

From a parent’s perspective, words of thanks are not enough to express our gratitude. You all did what you had to and what you knew was the best for each other and our children. In the end, we can all look back with clearer vision to examine what happened and how it was handled, as we all tend to do. I know parents, staff, administrators and children are all learning from this situation. But in the end, we have a school full of wonderful people who are all alive, happy and ready to get back to learning, and we do appreciate that.

Please know that years from now after all the analyzing, when people do look back on this, you will all be considered heroes for your great acts of courage and kindness. We have always said that teachers are a special kind of people, and we believe they are.
