GF Red River tops West Fargo in Class A boys BB consolation semifinals

BISMARCK – Grand Forks Red River defeated West Fargo 69-62 in the consolation semifinals of the North Dakota Class A state boys basketball tournament on Friday at Exhibition Hall.

Brady Rotert paced the Packers with 19 points including three 3-pointers.

Mac Kroeplin was one of four Roughriders who scored in double figures. Kroeplin, a Mr. Basketball finalist, finished with 16 points for Red River (21-3).

The Roughriders advance to play the winner of Bismarck St. Mary’s-Mandan in the fifth place game at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Bismarck Civic Center.

West Fargo finishes its season 15-9.

St. Mary’s 74, Mandan 56

Bismarck St. Mary’s got 24 points from Ben Weisbeck in a 74-56 win over Mandan in the consolation semifinals on Friday.

The Saints (20-3) advance to play Grand Forks Red River in the fifth-place game at 11:30 a.m. today at the Bismarck Civic Center.

Darius Sparks added 16 points for St. Mary’s and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.

Erron Collins scored 16 points for Mandan. The Braves finish their season 10-14.
