Basement fire damages north Fargo homeFARGO – A basement fire Thursday night caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to a north Fargo home, Battalion Chief Chris Rasmussen said.
The homeowner reported the fire at 11:32 p.m. at 1710 2nd St. N. She had just turned up the thermostat when she noticed smoke coming from the basement, Rasmussen said.
The woman left the rambler-style house and called 911. She was not injured.
Firefighters arrived and quickly put out a fire in the furnace/laundry room area of the basement, Rasmussen said. The fire was confined to that room, but it caused light structural damage and the house also had smoke damage, he said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A pet cat also escaped the fire but was missing, Rasmussen said.
