Weekend watch: Ben Weaver at the HoDo
It’s been a while since Minneapolis singer/songwriter Ben Weaver made it up our way. Once a Ralph’s regular, the gravelly-voiced guitarist may seem an odd sort for the HoDo Lounge, 101 Broadway, Fargo, where he plays tonight, until you discover Weaver took time off from touring to learn his way around some of the finer kitchens in the Twin Cities.
Weaver’s raspy delivery makes for an interesting pairing with Bell’s Brewery’s Music for your Mouth, which showcases four music-themed brews: Black Note Stout, Le Batteur (French for “the drummer”), Le Pianiste and Le Contrebassiste. Both events are free (though you buy your own beer) and ID only, with the Bell’s tasting starting at 5 p.m. and Weaver playing at 9 p.m. (701) 478-1000.
