Nexxus shampoo, conditioner intended to combat aging hair

FARGO – I am always a bit skeptical when reviewing beauty products.

Over the years I’ve found they make fantastic claims they rarely live up to. But I’ve been testing a free sample of Nexxus Salon Hair Care’s new Youth Renewal rejuvenating shampoo and conditioner and I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised by the results.

Nexxus claims the shampoo and conditioner combat eight signs of aging hair – volume loss, breakage, less shine, roughness, dryness, brittleness, unruliness, and loss of color vibrancy.

What I’ve found is it does make my hair look and feel shinier and smoother, even without using any hair products after washing and conditioning. My hair doesn’t seem as dry or brittle and it is easier to manage. It also reduces frizz, which my hair is prone to do.

It did not help with volume. (My hair is very flat, straight, and thin.) And I could not tell whether the products help with color vibrancy. (I have my hair highlighted and lowlighted a few times a year.)

The shampoo and conditioner contain ingredients like hydrolyzed keratin, pearl extract, Argan oil, CoQ10, hydrolyzed wheat protein, and vitamin E.

The products also have a nice floral scent that’s not overpowering.

The 13.5 ounce bottles sell for $14.99 each and can be purchased at retail, drug and grocery stores nationwide.
