Force pick up two big points on Lincoln TuesdayFARGO – The Fargo Force picked up two big points Tuesday with a 4-2 win over Lincoln in United States Hockey League action at Scheels Arena.
Taylor Fleming and Alex Iafallo each scored goals in the second period to give Fargo (32-16-6) a 2-0 lead headed into the third.
Dominic Toninato made it 3-0 Fargo early in the third period. Lincoln answered with a goal from Tommy Schutt and Vinni Lettieri, but Austin Ortega scored on an empty net to seal the win for the Force.
The win gives the Force some cushion in the tight Western Conference standings. With 10 games remaining, the Force are in second place with 70 points, six points behind Sioux Falls and five points ahead of Lincoln and Waterloo, who hold the final two playoff spots.
The Force are also eight points ahead of Omaha, who is in fifth place.
The schedule also favors Fargo, as the Force play Des Moines and Sioux City – the bottom two teams in the conference – three times each in the final 10 games of the season.
Two of those matchups versus Des Moines will be at Scheels Arena Friday and Saturday.
