Fargo police seek four who ran away from hit-and-run crash

FARGO – Police here are looking for four people who fled an accident scene this afternoon.

Lt. Joel Vettel said the accident happened about 2:15 p.m., when a compact SUV heading south on 15th Street ran a stop sign and hit another small SUV at Fifth Avenue South, Vettel said.

Vettel said the four people in the SUV that ran the stop sign spoke briefly with the other drive then ran from the scene. One passenger was seen limping and may have been injured in the accident, he said.

The vehicle’s registered owner has been located and officers are “making good progress” finding the four involved in the accident.

“There is no indication they were juveniles,” Vettel said.

Four people fleeing the scene of an accident is rare, Vettel said. When people do flee an accident of this type, it’s often due to an arrest warrant or the involvement of drugs or alcohol.
