ND man pleads guilty for crash that killed brotherFARGO – A North Dakota man has pleaded guilty for driving drunk and causing a crash that killed his brother.
Jamie Belgarde, of St. Michael, is charged in federal court with involuntary manslaughter.
Authorities say the 38-year-old Belgarde was under the influence of alcohol and speeding last June 23 when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The vehicle vaulted, rolled and came to rest upside down in a field.
Donald Belgarde Jr., a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of eight years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled May 29 in Fargo.
