Wolters leads Jacks into Summit League semifinalsSIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Nate Wolters led all scorers with 20 points as South Dakota State took down Indiana Purdue-Indianapolis 66-49 in the quarterfinals of the Summit League men’s basketball tournament Saturday at Sioux Falls Arena.
Tony Fiegen and Jordan Dykstra each recorded 15 points for the Jackrabbits. Fiegen also chipped in with 10 rebounds.
Mitchell Patton and Donovan Gibbs tallied 17 and 10 points, respectively, for IUPUI.
Western Illinois 54,
South Dakota 53
Western Illinois’ Ceola Clark led the Leathernecks to a 54-53 victory over South Dakota on Saturday.
Clark shot 9-for-15 to finish with 21 points and three assists while Michael Ochereobia was the rebound leader for Illinois with 9 boards.
Trevor Gruis and Juevol Myles were the top scorers for South Dakota. Gruis posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds and Myles tallied a team-high 14 points.
South Dakota State 67,
Katie Lingle scored 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds as top-seeded South Dakota State claimed it 13th straight women’s Summit League basketball tournament victory with a 67-53 victory over Oakland on Saturday.
SDSU shot 44.6 percent from the floor as the Jackrabbits, who were regular-season champs, take aim at their fifth straight tournament title.
Olivia Nash led Oakland with 17 points.
IUPUI 59, Kansas City 47
Indiana Purdue-Indianapolis defeated Missouri-Kansas City as Kerah Nelson and DeAirra Goss each recorded a double-double.
Nelson tallied 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Goss scored 14 points and snatched 12 boards.
The Jaguars held a 29-11 lead at halftime.
