Style Profile: Young professional mixes prints, favors independent style
I spotted Michael Mathers, a sourcing specialist with Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment, at Starbucks pulling off a cool business casual ensemble.
I like the way the larger print on his tie complements the tiny gingham print of his vibrant blue shirt.
Describe your style. Independent.
What are you wearing today? A mix of things from Express and Banana Republic. I don’t pay attention to brands, I’m more about fit.
What’s your favorite thing in your closet? My socks! I love fun socks.
What’s your fashion philosophy? Dress the way you feel at that certain point in time.
Do you have a favorite style? I really like Japanese men’s work style and 1970s style, but modernized.
You travel internationally for work. What’s your favorite travel destination? Sri Lanka – it’s the vacation spot no one knows about. It’s very beautiful, and people are really friendly.
Bow ties or traditional neck ties? My next purchase will be a bow tie.
What draws you to fashion? I like that style is fluid – always changing.
Do you have any tattoos? Two – a memorial tattoo for a friend and a tattoo for the 701 Crew in Williston.
Tattoos can be part of your style and represent a time in your life.
What was your style like in high school? I thrifted a lot, and my friends and I had “Mob Suit Wednesdays.” We’d wear cheesy suits – the cheesier, the better.
