Fargo South defeats Fargo North in East Region boys basketball loser-out game

FARGO – Fargo South senior point guard Paxton Lloyd scored 22 points to help the Bruins to a 72-49 victory over Fargo North in a loser-out game of the North Dakota Class A, East Region boys basketball tournament on Friday at the Bison Sports Arena.

Junior forward Drew Fahrman added 19 points for the Bruins (11-10). South advances to play the loser of the Fargo Shanley-Fargo Davies semifinals game in a state-qualifying game at 4:45 p.m. Saturday at the Bison Sports Arena.

Stephen Espel scored 20 points to pace the Spartans, who end the season 3-19.

FARGO NORTH (3-19): Espel 8 4-7 20, Rerick 4 0-0 10, Strom 2 3-4 7, Thompson 2 1-4 5, Fisher 1 1-2 3, Sanford 1 0-0 3, Boutain 0 1-2 1. Totals: 18-46 10-19 49.
