Trenton edges Cavalier, Tigers rally from five points down to grab victory

MINOT, N.D. – Trenton rallied from a five-point deficit after three quarters to beat Cavalier 54-52 on Thursday in the first round of the North Dakota Class B boys basketball tournament Thursday.

Trenton Hove and Lane Huck paced the Tigers (23-2) with 16 points apiece. Hove had four of Trenton’s five 3-pointers and hit six of 18 shots from the field.

Jade Bentz had 10 points and half of his team’s 18 rebounds. Michael Rademacher chipped in 10 points and three assists.

Cavalier (19-6) dominated the boards in outrebounding the Tigers 46-18. But the Tornadoes shot just 42 percent from the field and 20 percent from three-point range.

Spencer Robbins had 24 points and 10 rebounds, and Ryan Chrest added 14 points for Cavalier.
