Letter: It’s wonderful to see the generosity in peopleI recently had a life-changing experience in Fargo that renewed my faith in my fellow man.
I was getting groceries at one of our local markets. After the woman at the counter finished ringing up my purchases, I swiped my card to pay for them, only to find out that for some reason it would not read, so I tried another card, but it was over the limit. I told the checkout girl that I was going to have to go get cash, which I had in my vehicle, when a gentleman behind me in the checkout line stepped up and said he wanted to pay for my purchases. I told him that I could not accept it, but he was adamant and said he wanted to do this and told me to pay it forward. I have never met this gentleman, but I am awestruck at his generosity and compassion for his fellow man.
I have always believed that there is good in my fellow man, but this just proved it beyond a doubt. In this day and age, when there is so much hate and problems in the world, it is comforting to know that we have reason for hope because of gestures like this.
I am going to do just what he asked of me and pay it forward the best way I can and try to spread the word to everyone who will listen that we need to be good to each other and good things can and will happen. I want to say thank you again to the gentleman who helped me. God bless him in everything he does.
