Sportsmen’s Show runs through Sunday at the Fargodome

FARGO – A waterskiing squirrel and insights offered by a number of hunting and fishing experts highlight the 48th annual Red River Valley Sportsmen’s Show, which starts today and runs through Sunday at the Fargodome.

Twiggy, the water-loving squirrel, will perform several times each day.

Speakers will include:

• Dave Csanda, an award-winning outdoor writer who spent 28 years as an editor of In-Fisherman publications, will speak today and Friday. His talks are titled “Slab Crappies and Bull Bluegills” and “Playing the Odds for Big Pike and Muskies.”

• Marlene Odahlen-Hinz, one of the Midwest’s premier bowhunters, will speak today and Friday. Her talk is titled “Finding and Hunting Bottlenecks.”

• Ted Takasaki, a Hall of Fame professional angler, will speak Saturday and Sunday. His talks are titled “The Deadliest Lure for Walleye” and “When is a Bass Lure a Walleye Lure.”

• Todd Amenrud, a full-time sportsman and author of three books on whitetail deer, will speak Saturday and Sunday. His talks are titled “Seal the Deal: How to Bring Mature Bucks in Close” and “Calling and Rattling Mature Bucks.”

The Sportsmen’s Show will feature about 200 exhibits, including a wide variety of new boats, RVs, motors, docks, marine electronics, fishing gear, hunting and camping gear and outfitters and resorts.

The show will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. today; noon to 9 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $7 for adults, $2.50 for children age 6-12; and free for children 5 and younger.
