Letter: Mitt, Ann Romney a real class act

The article “Romney explains defeat” by Philip Rucker belongs on the Opinion page rather than a news page.

On Sunday, TV viewers were blessed with a display of class not seen on television in a long while. Chris Wallace interviewed Mitt and Ann Romney, their first real public appearance since the 2012 election. Wallace did not hold back on any hardball questions and asked, “Just what do you feel was the reason you lost the election?” The Romneys answered all questions directly, honestly with sincerity, dignity and class. Gov. Romney offered no excuses and acknowledged his own failures such as not being aggressive enough.

Contrary to Rucker’s analysis, he did not try to blame anyone else and he made no mention of the baseless charges, dirt and lies thrown at him. He said nothing about election fraud. Viewers could see very clearly that the Romneys are certainly the couple who ought to be occupying the White House.

During the campaign and even today, the Romneys always conducted themselves with presidential dignity. They are totally people of “class.” If Gov. Romney were our president today, the Congress could be dealing with defense matters, immigration, employment and the economy instead of sequestration.
