Pelican Rapids' Hibbert to race at Buffalo River Race Park this weekend

GLYNDON, Minn. – Tucker Hibbert, who became the first snowmobile racer to win six consecutive gold medals at the Winter X Games, will be racing this weekend at the Buffalo River Race Park.

It’s all part of the International Series of Champions snowmobile racing tour, which has races scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Buffalo River Race Park located near Glyndon, Minn.

Hibbert, who lives near Pelican Rapids, Minn., currently sits on top of the tour’s International Series of Champions point standings – maintaining a 73-point lead over defending champion Tim Trembley.

Hibbert is coming off last week’s win in Salamanca, N.Y., where he placed first in the 24-lap main event, nine seconds ahead of Ross Martin.

“With a short track, I knew I had to charge as hard as I could on the opening laps before we hit lapped traffic,” Hibbert said. “I put all my focus into getting to the front early before it got too crazy. It worked out.”

Hibbert’s focus will now be on the Buffalo River Race Park.

“I’m really excited for this race,” he said. “It’s fun to race close to home and to have friends and family there supporting me. I know the crew at Buffalo River Race Park is working hard on making a big track so it should be an awesome race.”

Fans can meet and get autographs from local pros – including Hibbert – on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at The Hub in Fargo.
