Storage shed a total loss after fireFARGO – Firefighters dug through the smoldering rubble of a destroyed storage shed Saturday afternoon here, looking for a dog.
Flames engulfed a storage shed in the backyard of a home at 3302 1st St. N. around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, said Assistant Fire Chief LeRoy Skarloken of the Fargo Fire Department.
No one was home at the time of the fire, but there was a dog kennel adjacent to the shed, which caused firefighters to search for the dog, Skarloken said. Firefighters were eventually able to contact the homeowners, who were out of town and had taken their dog with them.
The cause of the blaze is unknown, Skarloken said. When firefighters arrived on scene, the shed was already fully immersed in flames, he said. They stopped the fire from spreading to other residences.
The shed was a total loss. Vinyl siding on the house and a fence were also damaged. The estimated damage is $3,500.
